Risks & Contraindications

Manual lymphatic drainage and massage therapies are generally safe for many individuals. However, there are situations where treatment may not be appropriate or may require medical clearance.

Please inform your therapist of your full medical history prior to treatment.

Lymphatic drainage massage may not be suitable for individuals with:

  • Active infections

  • Malignant tumours or active cancer

  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

  • Serious or uncontrolled heart conditions

  • Kidney or liver dysfunction

  • Skin infections, open wounds, or unhealed surgical sites

Post-Surgical Clients

While lymphatic drainage can be beneficial following surgery, medical clearance is recommended, particularly in the early post-operative period.

Your Safety

If you are unsure whether lymphatic drainage or massage therapy is appropriate for you, please discuss this during your consultation or seek advice from your healthcare provider.

Prana Praday reserves the right to decline or modify treatment if it is deemed unsafe.
