Remedial Massage – Adelaide

Individualised remedial massage at Prana Praday’s Fulham clinic in Adelaide, with treatment tailored to your areas of muscular tension, discomfort and movement needs.

Remedial massage is a targeted form of massage that focuses on specific areas of the body rather than providing the same full-body routine for every client.

At Prana Praday, treatment is adapted to your individual presentation, comfort, health history and treatment goals.

Effective For:

What Is Remedial Massage?

Remedial massage uses a range of massage techniques to work with muscles and soft tissues that may feel tight, uncomfortable or restricted.
Before treatment, your concerns and relevant health history are discussed so that the session can be tailored appropriately.
Depending on your needs, treatment may focus on a particular area or combination of areas rather than the whole body.

Who May Consider Remedial Massage?

Remedial massage may be suitable for people experiencing:

  • Muscle tension and tightness
  • Muscular aches or discomfort
  • Stiffness
  • Restricted or uncomfortable movement
  • Tension associated with everyday activities
  • Physical fatigue from work or activity
  • General muscular tension affecting comfort and wellbeing

Suitability is assessed individually, particularly where there is a recent injury, surgery or existing medical condition.

Common Areas We Can Focus On

Depending on your individual needs, remedial massage may focus on areas such as:

  • Neck and shoulders
  • Upper and lower back
  • Arms and forearms
  • Hips and gluteal area
  • Legs
  • Other areas of muscular tension or discomfort

Your treatment area and techniques are discussed with you before and during the session.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Your appointment begins with a discussion about your health history, areas of concern and treatment goals.

Kavita will consider this information when tailoring your treatment.

During the session, you are encouraged to communicate about pressure, comfort or any concerns so that the treatment can be adjusted appropriately.

The aim is not simply to apply more pressure. Treatment should be appropriate to your individual needs and comfort.

Remedial Massage vs Relaxation Massage

Both services involve massage, but they have different purposes.

Remedial Massage is more targeted and focuses on specific areas of muscular tension, discomfort or restricted movement.

Relaxation Massage focuses more broadly on providing a calming massage experience, easing everyday tension and supporting general relaxation and wellbeing.

If you’re unsure which service is more appropriate for you, contact Prana Praday before booking and we can discuss your needs.

A Nurse-Led Approach to Care

Prana Praday is led by Kavita, a Registered Nurse and Flinders University graduate with clinical experience across a range of healthcare settings.

Her nursing background contributes to Prana Praday’s emphasis on health history, clear communication, professional boundaries, individualised treatment and safety.

Remedial massage is a complementary therapy and does not replace medical assessment or treatment.

Where symptoms or health circumstances require further medical assessment, you may be advised to consult your doctor or another appropriate healthcare professional.

When Remedial Massage May Not Be Appropriate

There are circumstances where massage may need to be modified, postponed or avoided.

Please tell us before your appointment if you have:

  • A recent injury or surgery
  • Unexplained swelling or significant pain
  • Fever or acute illness
  • Skin infection, open wounds or other skin concerns
  • A history of blood clots or relevant vascular conditions
  • A medical condition that may affect the suitability of massage
  • Been advised by a healthcare professional to avoid massage

This isn’t an exhaustive list. Suitability is considered based on your individual circumstances, and medical clearance may be requested where appropriate.
